It is going to be near freezing today – woohoo!!! Today, we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord: another – woohoo!!! Jesus gave us a model of what our behavior should be with his baptism. We are to give up our lives in order for the Holy Spirit to live in us. we wash away our old lives, to live a life that the Human Jesus showed us was possible.
Quote or Joke of the Day:
“Jesus concealed in the Host is everything to me. From the tabernacle I draw strength, power, courage and light”. [ † Faustina, 1037]
What profit has man from all the labor which he toils at under the sun? One generation passes and another comes, but the world forever stays. (NAB Ecclesiastes 1:3-4)
Whatever we do; whatever we earn; whatever we save, if it is materialistic, will not go with us after we die. We can work hard, or we can be lazy. The only thing that matters is how we live our lives, and not what we obtain physically.Does this mean we all have to be ‘dirt poor’ and wearing filth, torn clothing in order to gain heaven. Again, are those that have 20% of the nation’s wealth going to hell. Not in any way! Many who are from the slums, as well as some from the ‘filthy’ rich are doomed to eternity in a VERY, Very hot place.
God wants us to live a devout, religious, and kind lifestyle. Money has no relevance to God. Remember, Jesus said, Give to Caesar what is Caesars, and to God what is God’s!” We are to love all regardless of race, occupation, are social-economic backgrounds. We are to support others physically (God’s temple), spiritually (God’s soul), and mentally (God’s knowledge). Depending on the various circumstances of life, some may be given the grace to offer more to others, while others may only be able to accept help without giving.
Is this fair and equitable? NO!!! But neither was it fair for God to come to us in the form of Jesus to die for us, sinners. A divine God offered Himself up, to suffer immensely, and the die physically, in order to redeem us from evil. One gave – for ALL! That wasn’t fair either.
Thank you God. Amen.
